With the Davauers having a new addition to the family, I decided it was time to go and pay a visit. However, this was not a normal trip. Firstly, as I am no longer an employee of Faegre and Benson, I had to pay for my flight (highly depressing). Secondly, it was summer time and, as I had previously been told, summer is really quite pleasant. Lake Michigan wasn’t frozen, the road salts didn’t destroy my shoes, ice skates were not requierd and sun burn was a genuine hazard!
So, I am pleased to say that mini Davauer (Eve) is a cutie and unquestionably takes after her mother!
.
It looks like she is also destined to become an actress (Nat, start saving)…
So what do Milwaukee people do in the summer… well, it seems they like to pretend they are English! Yes, that’s right. Apparently the “Renaissance Fair” is a local tradition where the Elizabethan costumes come out and everyone puts on their best English accent. So, I was rather bemused when I told I was pretty good at doing the accent thing but that I should work on an outfit… I should hope so (about the accent part)!
I also had my first taste of the American country on Nat’s parents’ farm. After seeing the sprawling fields I was taken to an old unused barn. This place was awesome and had not been used for about forty years. There were holes in the floor and floor boards which would give way if trodden on. However, this place was a photographer’s dream so (after checking I still had the insurance documents on me – Obama has not changed the world yet) we ventured in!
I also had the excitement of watching Jacob, Nick and Mike go sky-diving…
First comes the adrenaline…
Then the relief…
… then the bravado…
… then the come down!
So, a good trip all round. India is next… a full three weeks in November!
