Ah, Montenegro, my favourite Hash event of the year. It has everything, Venetian coastal cities, mountains to die for, crystal blue waters, fresh water lakes and rivers, a Berlin esque communist style capital, great food and hospitality… and Euro 1.90 pints of beer.

Last year, we hashed in Podgorica, the soviet style capital. Run down, horrible architecture, yet something still quite cool and enjoyable in its own right.

Obviously, like all former Eastern block states, they throw in some weird stuff as well…

This year, however, we went for the more touristy region at the bay of Kotor. This place is simply awe inspiring and the hiking is sensational. A bit challenging of course with Spencer…

We kicked off with the obligatory red dress run. In Podgorica this created more than a few frowns (LGBT rights haven’t really taken off yet in Montenegro)… fortunately, the tourists of Kotor have a more international outlook.

Spencer, naturally, did his best to charm…

However, competition is not something he is used to… Oh yes Spency, another baby who is equally as cute…

This baby even does circles…

The next day we hiked the mountains surrounding Kotor. I have done this hike before. It was awesome then. However, it did not have this weather!

The circle was held at an old Austro-Hungarian fort at the top of the mountain. This place has some serious character. I suspect abandoned after the Yugoslav wars, it still has left over military gear in the abandoned huts. It is like time stood still.

But, however awesome the fort, it was not as awesome as the stiff arm… oh yes, we need one in Amsterdam!

And some more from the rest of the circle.

For the evening, back to Kotor for dinner with the fancy dress theme of dress like your home nation. Obviously, sun burn aside, I failed miserably. Spencer did ok though.

And so, after the (not so flat) short hangover run the next day which say me burn about 4k calories pushing the stroller up a mountain and back (and which coincidentally intersected an Iron-man competition to put my efforts in perspective), another hash weekend was over.

We still had an extra day however and so visited Perast, a really nice town with a church in the middle of the ocean (who says religion isn’t accessible to the masses…)

An with that being that, let’s hope we can convince Scott to put on a round three next year!
